Giridhar Dodderi is a self-taught artist and Hindustani classical flutist, blending visual art and music through realism, expression, and disciplined creativity.

A self-taught artist, I explore visual storytelling through a wide range of mediums, including oil paints, acrylics, charcoal, pencil sketches, and colour pencil drawings. My work spans realistic portraits and expressive landscapes, often shaped by careful observation, texture, and an evolving relationship with form and colour. Rather than confining myself to a single style, I allow each subject to guide the medium and approach, resulting in work that is both grounded and exploratory.
Drawing is central to my practice, especially through realistic colour pencil and charcoal studies that focus on depth, detail, and emotion. Portraiture remains a recurring theme in my work, where capturing expression and character takes precedence over perfection. Landscapes, on the other hand, offer space for movement, mood, and interpretation, allowing realism and expression to intersect naturally.
Alongside visual art, I am a Hindustani classical flutist with over 35 years of training and practice. Music plays a significant role in shaping my artistic sensibility—its rhythm, pauses, and improvisation subtly influence how I approach composition and flow on canvas. The disciplines of riyaz and sustained listening inform the patience and precision present in my artwork.
I actively perform and teach flute, continuing to engage with music as both a practitioner and mentor. Together, my practices in art and music form a continuous dialogue—each enriching the other—rooted in lifelong learning, discipline, and creative exploration.
Every stroke and texture in the work feels intentional—each layer contributing to a quiet, powerful sense of meaning and memory.
